Dr. Jeff Kilgore

Lead Veterinarian/Owner

A 1993 graduate of Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Jeff Kilgore has been practicing in the Richmond area for over 20 years. He opened Mechanicsville Animal Hospital in April 1998 and has enjoyed watching this grow into a multi-doctor practice. His professional interests include preventative medicine, internal medicine, and general surgery.

Dr. Kilgore enjoys spending time with his family, friends, and four dogs at his home in Mechanicsville. His favorite hobbies include outdoor sports, boating, and traveling.

Dr. Chris Kaloski

Veterinarian

Dr. Chris Kaloski is a 1993 graduate of Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. He has been practicing in the Richmond area since 1993. His professional interests include preventative medicine, internal medicine, and general surgeries. His hobbies include fitness, racing, Virginia Tech sports, and spending time with his wife and dogs.

Dr. Danielle Hartman

Veterinarian

Dr. Hartman was born and raised in Chesterfield County. As soon as she was old enough to work, she snagged a job at a local pet hospital. After high school, she was accepted into her dream college, Virginia Tech, where she majored in Animal and Poultry Sciences with an emphasis on Livestock Production.

After graduation, she was accepted into the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech, graduating in 2008 with her DVM and an emphasis in Small Animal Medicine.

Dr. Hartman practiced for three years in Fredericksburg before moving back to the Richmond area. She has been practicing in Richmond since 2012, and we are thrilled that she joined Mechanicsville Animal Hospital in 2015.

Soft-tissue surgery is one of Dr. Hartman’s favorite medical aspects of her job. For her, there is nothing more gratifying than bringing a patient back from the brink with a life-saving surgery.

Dr. Hartman lives in Chesterfield with her husband Jeff, their dogs Roxie and BooBoo, and their cats Piccolo and Joker. In her free time, Dr. Hartman enjoys knitting, hula hooping, and playing video games. She’s also fluent in French and will speak it with anyone willing to indulge her.

Dr. Carol Dugan

Veterinarian

Dr. Carol Dugan graduated from the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine in 1981. She co-owned a practice in Richmond’s west end from 1983 to 2011. Her professional interests include feline medicine and nutrition, internal medicine, and geriatric care. Dr. Dugan spends her free time in cat rescue and church activities.

Dr. Angela Kargus

Veterinarian

Dr. Angela Kargus developed an early interest in animal care and veterinary medicine while growing up on her family’s dairy farm in Wisconsin. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin in 2001 and spent several years working in media and public relations prior to receiving her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Kansas State University. Dr. Kargus has been practicing in Richmond since 2013 and joined Mechanicsville Animal Hospital in August 2016. Her areas of special interest include dentistry, dermatology and internal medicine.

Dr. Kargus lives in Chesterfield County with her husband Brian, and their two rescued cocker spaniels Mickey and Cooper. In her free time, Dr. Kargus enjoys traveling, wine tasting, and cheering on the Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers.

Dr. Ben Enge

Veterinarian

Dr. Ben Enge was born and raised in Roseville, Minnesota. He graduated in 2014 from the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine. He has been practicing in the Richmond area since 2014, and joined our team in August 2016. His professional interests include canine and feline internal medicine, dentistry and soft tissue surgery. On his time off he enjoys outdoor activities with his wife, a fellow veterinarian, and their three dogs. They also have 4 cats at home to complete their little family.
